Abbie Weiskopf

I grew up in a loving Jewish home. I had a knowledge of religion, but never understood that I could know God personally. I did not believe that God loved me, nor did I believe that He was working in my life to draw me to Himself. I always had a great fear of death, especially as a young child.

“…that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Hebrews 2:14b-15

As a teen, I became very rebellious, pursuing a lifestyle that involved one selfish and destructive endeavor after another. I later adopted a “hippie-like” lifestyle and a new age perspective concerning spiritual things. As a young adult, I went on to study yoga and became a yoga instructor, running a small yoga center. I convinced myself that I could control my life and determine my happiness through made-up religion and self-indulgent, destructive activities and relationships. I attempted to overcome every fear of life and death with that which was powerless to do so, yet quite powerful to destroy lives and relationships. I was in trouble. God, however, does something quite miraculous with sinners. He loves us. I would not know this if not for Jesus Christ, and the gift of becoming a new creation, in Him.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

In 1998, at the age of 23, I called out to the Lord, in the midst of great darkness, and He faithfully revealed Himself and His light to me.

“For it is the God Who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shown in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6

“My flesh and my heart fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

I have the privilege of serving as Team Leader for the 4-7 year old children’s Sunday school Bible studies, as part of the Children’s Ministry at CC Delta. This gives me the opportunity to be of assistance and encouragement to the teachers and helpers in these age groups, as well as the attending children and their families. I am additionally blessed to be a teacher of the 6-7 year-old children on Sunday mornings.

Abbie is the Team Leader for the 4-5/6-7 year-old classes. She hosts a Tuesday evening women’s home Bible Study and serves as part of the Pastoral Care Team.
