I was blessed to grow up in a solid Christian family, and I was saved at a young age. As with many Christian youth, during my latter years in high school I began to drift away from the Lord, focusing on earthly gain, success, and obtaining the “American dream.” I was still a Christian, going to church every Sunday, but my heart was far from the Lord. Finally, while in my junior year of college, the Lord made it clear to me that having earthly possessions and status is totally unfulfilling. He used a difficult time in my life to open my eyes and show me that real abundant life is found only in a close relationship with Jesus. Since that time, the Lord has blessed me with a wonderful family: my wife, Sarah; daughters, Abigail and Ruth; and sons, James and Seth. The Lord has blessed our family in so many ways and we want to serve God with everything. We’re blessed to be able to serve in the Media Ministry, as well as with the Worship, Evangelism, and Children’s Ministries.

The goals of the Media Ministry are to create an atmosphere that is conducive to worship and to ensure the gospel is clearly proclaimed to as many people as possible through the use of media. We are responsible for many of the technical aspects of the worship services including:

  • Live Sound – Ensuring the word of God is clearly heard and that the congregation is able to praise and worship with the Worship team.
  • Projection – Providing various forms of projected media, such as worship lyrics, church announcements, and special videos.
  • Audio/Video Recording – Recording the audio and video and providing the master DVD, CD and digital formats for duplication. We also provide the recorded messages online via the website ( and podcast (
  • Lighting – Operating the lighting system to create the ideal atmosphere without distracting from worship and the Word.
  • Live Streaming – For those who can’t attend services in person, we also stream each service live on the internet ( Archived services can be viewed there as well.

There are many opportunities to serve in the Media Ministry. Please contact me if you are interested.

The Lord has blessed me beyond measure. Raised in a loving Christian family, I accepted Christ at a young age at River Valley Ranch. The Lord protected me during a very rebellious phase of my life, from my early teens through my mid-twenties.

Growing up in the 1960s, I truly embraced the attitude of rebellion—the mindset to challenge all authority that decade is known for. Full of arrogance and pride, I had no cognitive understanding of the word “submission” and although I claimed Christ as my Savior, I lived to the gratification of my flesh.

Through a series of events, the Lord humbled me and I turned my eyes off myself and onto Him. He reminded me of the love that He had for me even in my sinful, rebellious state. In my state of brokenness, I was finally willing to hear from my Creator. He showed me from His Word that the restraints placed on mankind were for our protection. The things of the world that looked so enticing can be enjoyable for a season, but after a time leave you empty or worse yet, addicted.

They provide neither inner peace nor real lasting satisfaction. Although I was successful in many ways as viewed through the world’s eyes, I was miserable and well down the path of self-destruction.

In humility and brokenness, I repented of my sins and accepted His amazing grace. He restored me and placed me in scripture memory based Bible study for two years. Shortly after that, He blessed me with Ellie, a wonderful woman who loved Him.

His bountiful blessings continued with Joshua, Matthew and Michelle who are now grown. Yes, my family and I have been truly blessed, yet in this life there are always emotional highs and lows. Regardless of the trial, He is always there to carry us through to the end.

2 Timothy 2:11-13 expresses this clearly:
“This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.”

Men Encouraging Men:
Men Encouraging Men is a fitting title as it’s our intent to do just that. We are blessed within this body with men who love The Lord and take their role as the spiritual leader of their family seriously. It is the Lord’s desire to see that scriptural knowledge and experience is passed to other men as we strengthen existing relationships and forge new ones. Proverbs 27:17 sums this up nicely: “As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”

I was raised in a family that was part of a very liturgical church and I attended the church’s elementary school. Although I cannot remember much of what was taught about God, I did know that He loved me and that Jesus was His Son. One day, God convicted me of my sin and that I was headed for hell. I did what my church taught to be forgiven, but afterwards, I still knew I was guilty. At that point, I asked God to forgive me. I didn’t know if He would or why He would, but I confessed my sin and asked for forgiveness. I remember walking out of that church building with all the guilt gone. Although I didn’t understand what God had done, I could see changes in me. Church took on new meaning. I wanted to serve God rather than it being a chore, and I wanted to be involved in the things of God.

Over the following years, God brought people into my life to share His word, challenge my false beliefs and encourage me to read the Bible. As I did, God showed me how He had forgiven and saved me so many years before and that I didn’t have to work for His approval, but that my relationship with Him was based on His grace through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

As I have followed the Lord for over three decades, I have seen how God’s word is absolutely true and that He is always faithful to keep His promises. The better I understand His word, the more I trust Him, the more I can cooperate with Him and the more He transforms me to make me more like Him.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” – Romans 12:2

That’s why my wife, Brenda, and I have always sought to be part of a church that puts a high priority on God’s word and teaches through the Bible. That’s one of the reasons we call Calvary Chapel of Delta our church home.

It’s a joy to be able to serve the Lord as pastor here at Calvary! It wasn’t my plan, my idea, or my objective; but I’m thankful for the way the Holy Spirit redirected me and brought me to this place.

I grew up south of Baltimore in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, with my mom, dad, older sister, and younger brother. My parents faithfully took us to church every week. They sent me to a Christian elementary school. I learned a lot about the Bible, but beginning in my teenage years, I began to live life my own way. The truth I knew didn’t affect the way I chose to live. I was a rebel. When I left home to go to college, I left many moral barriers behind. It seemed fun, but left me empty. I knew something was wrong. I reasoned that my choice of friends had led me down the wrong path, so I transferred to a different school after my first year. I was fine for a few months, but then I got bored and decided to join a fraternity. In just a few short months, I was worse than before. It was a crazy lifestyle. One good thing that came out of my time there was that I met my wife, Susan.

My life changed when Susan’s dad called one day. I’ll never forget it. He was broken and weeping. He had just discovered that his wife had cancer throughout her body. When Susan heard the news we quickly gathered some things to head to her parents’ house in New Jersey. In that moment, I remembered that the Bible was God’s word. We grabbed a Bible and began to read, looking for hope.

Over the next several months, we read the Bible and listened to radio Bible teaching. I discovered life-changing, impacting truth in God’s Word. Through the process of digging into the Bible seeking answers, both Susan and I individually entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior, surrendering our lives to Him.

We were married in June of 1989. In July of the following year (1990) we had our first child. The Lord has blessed us with five children—two boys and three girls.

As we sought the Lord, we longed for a fellowship centered on God’s word. We heard expositional teaching on the radio and loved it; we wondered, “Why doesn’t a church simply teach the Bible?” We spent years searching for a fellowship. Then through a series of events, the Lord eventually led us to a Calvary Chapel. The pastor was teaching through Daniel, line by line, verse by verse. We couldn’t get enough!

I sensed a call on my life, but didn’t know the details. I thought we were going to be missionaries in a foreign country and we began to prepare to go. While waiting for more direction, we began to serve any way we could at Calvary—from helping set up for services, to watching toddlers; from teaching Sunday School to teaching new believers; from leading home Bible studies to serving on the Board. It was a joy to help. I was praying diligently, seeking for direction and where to begin to teach a Bible study next.

Then one evening I met a few young men who had made the journey from Delta to Calvary for the mid-week Bible Study. Knowing they had traveled quite a distance, I asked if they had ever considered having a home Bible study. They said they had and had been praying for someone to teach one. I went to the pastor, we prayed, and sensed the Lord opening a door to minister to those who were driving from Delta for church.

The first Sunday evening we met, 12 people gathered for prayer. The next week, 20 people gathered for the first Bible study. After a few months, 50 people were gathering weekly to worship and study God’s word. That was the summer of 1996. Then in November, I was ordained and sent with Calvary’s blessing to start Sunday morning services in Delta. Subsequently, I went through the affiliation process and was approved to become a part of Calvary Chapel Outreach Fellowships (an association of Calvary Chapel ministries throughout the world).

As I’ve been teaching through the entire Bible, verse by verse, it’s been amazing to watch the Holy Spirit work. I’ve been encouraged to see what the Lord does through the simple teaching of His word. Over the years, we’ve been blessed to see lives radically transformed, coming to faith in Christ, equipped for ministry, and sent into the world to represent Him. God, by His grace, has enabled us to be involved in missions around the world, including the blessing of being able to start and maintain a child sponsorship program in the Dominican Republic and, from that ministry, establishing a church in the Dominican Republic.

Above all, I am thankful to be saved, to be a child of the living God. I’m thankful for my faithful wife who loves Jesus, educates our children at home and supports and enables me practically to serve the Lord. I’m thankful for the privilege of being a parent, and for the joy of watching the Lord work in my children’s lives. I enjoy running, lifting weights, exercising with my family, and I’m a big fan of my children’s sports teams.

It’s been a wonderful journey, so far! I’m looking forward to what the Lord will continue to do as we wait for His return. I’m determined to continue teaching through the WORD, trusting the Holy Spirit to work and to accomplish the Lord’s purpose in our community!
